IMAP and SMTP explained

Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP): IMAP is a standard protocol used by email applications to retrieve messages from a mail server. IMAP is particularly useful for accessing emails from multiple devices, as it allows an email application to view messages as they are stored on the server, without downloading them locally.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP): SMTP is a protocol used for sending emails across the Internet. SMTP is responsible for setting up communication rules between servers, to make sure that your emails are correctly routed from your email application to the recipient’s email server.
