Change your email address password

You can change your email address password from your hosting control panel or webmail.

The control panel method enables password updates for your email without needing the current password.

The webmail method requires knowing your existing password to update it while logged into webmail.

This guide will show you the steps for both methods.

Method: Control panel

1. Log in to your hosting control panel

2. Click the down arrow  next to your 🌐 domain name and choose the domain you want to manage

3. Click on the Email Accounts button

4. From the Account column, find your email address

5. Click on the plus + sign to the right of your email address

6. From the popup, select Change Password/Username

7. In the password field, generate (recommended) a new password and/or set your own⚠️. To generate one, click the dice ⚁ ⚁ on the left-hand side and the system will generate one for you. Then, click on the eye icon 👁️ to the right to reveal it.

⚠️ When setting your own password, you must adhere to these guidelines:

Complex & Long: At least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols
Random: Avoid predictable information like names or common words
Unique: Use a different password for each email account

8. Once you’ve put in a new password, click the Save button

9. You will get an E-mail Updated popup, with your new password displayed in plain text. If you haven’t done so already, note down your password somewhere safe or in your password manager. Do not share it with anyone.

Method: Webmail

⚠️ The webmail method requires knowing your existing password to update it while logged into webmail.

1. Log in to your email account using webmail

2. Click on Settings from the left-hand menu

3. Click on 🔒 Password

4. Fill in the password fields:

  • Current Password: Type or paste in your existing email password
  • ⚠️ New Password: Type or paste in a new email password
  • Confirm New Password: Re-type or re-paste in your new email password

⚠️ When setting your own password, you must adhere to these guidelines:

Complex & Long: At least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols

Unique: Use a different password for each email account

5. Take note of your new email password on a secure note or your password manager. Do not share it with anyone.

6. Click the Save button

7. You’ll get a Successfully saved message at the bottom of your screen
