Add reCAPTCHA to website contact form
reCAPTCHA is a free service from Google that helps protect website contact forms from spam and abuse by distinguishing human users from automated software, using tests that are easy for humans to solve but challenging for bots.
Instructions to add reCAPTCHA on a WordPress website contact form
1. Login to your WordPress dashboard
2. Install and activate the Contact Form 7 plugin
3. Go to the Google reCAPTCHA website and sign in with your Google Account (normally your Gmail email address). If you do not have a Google account, you’ll need to create one by clicking on Create account and following the sign-up process.
4. Fill in and complete the following fields:
- Label: Type in your domain name
- reCAPTCHA type: Select Score based (v3)
- Domains: Type in your domain name

5. Check the box next to I agree to the Google Cloud Platform Terms of Service and the Terms of Service of any applicable services and APIs and click the Submit button
You’ll get a screen with a Site Key and Secret Key
6. Click COPY SITE KEY and paste it on your notepad or as a secure note on a password manager
7. Click COPY SECRET KEY and paste it on your notepad or as a secure note on a password manager
8. Return to your WordPress dashboard
9. Hover over Contact from the menu
10. Click on Integration
11. Locate reCAPTCHA and click on the Setup Integration button
12. In the Site Key field, paste in your Site Key
13. In the Secret Key field, paste in your Secret Key
14. Click the Save Changes button
15. You will now see the reCAPTCHA is active on this site. message, which means reCAPTCHA is active on your WordPress website’s contact form
16. On the Google reCAPTCHA page, click on the Go To Settings button
17. Click the Save button
Instructions to add reCAPTCHA on other website (non-WordPress) contact forms
1. Go to the Jotform website and log in, or click the Sign Up For Free button to create a new account
2. Create a new contact form using the Form Builder or select an existing form you want to edit. We’ll create a new contact form in our example, click on Create Form
3. Click on Use Template
4. Click on Contact Forms
5. Select a contact form template. When you find a template you like, click on the Use Template button
6. In the Form Builder, click on Add Form Element +
7. Locate and click on the Captcha button
8. Click on the cogwheel icon ⚙️ next to the Captcha block on the contact form
9. Click on the reCAPTCHA button
10. Toggle ON to enable Use Google Invisible reCAPTCHA
11. Toggle ON to enable Keep reCAPTCHA badge visible
12. Click on Settings at the top, and review to configure all the settings for your contact form
13. Once ready, click on the Publish button
14. Click on Embed from the menu
15. You have several options to embed your contact form, normally you’ll click the Copy Code button

16. Once you embed your contact form on your website, reCAPTCHA will be active on it
