How To Add A TXT Record

To add a new TXT record (often used to verify your domain name with Google Search Console), log in to your cPanel control panel. Click here for instructions on how to get to cPanel.

DNS Zone Editor

Once you’re in the cPanel control panel, click on the Zone Editor under the Domains section:

Next, click the Manage button for the domain you’d like to configure.

Adding Records

Now, click the Add Record button on the right side of the page:

Fill in the following fields:

Name – full domain or subdomain (including a period at the end)

TTL – leave as is

Type – select TXT

Record – input or paste the TXT record (if you’re doing a Google Search console verification – paste the record Google provided for verification purposes (i.e., the ‘verification text’))

Once completed, click the Add Record button to save.

Using built-in filters, we can filter our TXT records:

Verifying Records

To verify that our new record has been added to the DNS zone.

Please note that it can take up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to propagate globally, in simpler terms, it can take up to 24 hours for you to see these changes on the internet.
